Joshua 22
I. Build your brother’s name 22:2-4
a. They had already received their inheritance
b. They had served with their brothers until they got their inheritance
c. We should bear our brother’s burdens and help others in their ministry
II. Even after the victory do not forget what God has used to get you this far along 22:5-6
a. Success and blessing are our most dangerous time
b. Do the commandments
c. Keep loving God
d. Walk in His ways
e. Cleave and serve
III. Don’t forget to share the blessings that God has given you 22:6-9
a. They had settled for the good instead of the best and still they get blessed
b. If they weren’t satisfied they could still move over to the promised land 22:19
c. God had financially blessed them
d. They were to share with their brethren 22:8
IV. Don’t forget who you are serving
a. The 2 ½ tribes built an altar by Jordan 22:10
b. The altar was built to be a witness to their faith
c. The altar was built to be a testimony to their children 22:24
d. They distrusted those who lived on the other side of the Jordan river 22:27
e. The altar was built as a testimony that they were one people and served one God though they were divided by distance and the river
V. Investigate before you judge
a. They immediately thought that their brothers were sinning 22:16
b. They immediately began reminding them of God’s judgment and punishment
i. Peor where 24,000 died for worshipping idols 22:17
ii. They felt that they were still affected by the sin
iii. Not just the individual was going to suffer but the entire congregation 22:18
iv. Achan did not perish alone 22:20
c. The altar had not been built to sacrifice and worship 22:28
d. They had been ready to go to war against their brothers 22:12
e. Now they are pleased to hear what the altar is for 22:30
f. They admit that they were mistaken 22:31
g. They are pleased and did not intend to war against their brothers 22:33
