- The place the Lord let them know He was in charge
I. The power of your testimony
a. They took steps that avoided their turning back—miraculously crossing the Jordan river
b. The enemy heard what the Lord had done 1
c. They may see God’s people but God’s people had better remember who did it 5:1
d. The enemy’s heart melted and their lost their spirit
e. The Christian wins the battle in a similar way Revelation 12:11
II. The decision made public through circumcision
a. They were children of Israel but had never been circumcised
b. Circumcision was an identifying marker for the Jews 4
c. Their circumcision would mark a definite separation from the old life 9
d. Circumcision was a step of obedience and the lack of obedience had caused them to walk in the wilderness 6
e. Circumcision was a putting away of the old man Colossians 3
f. Acting on what is true Romans 6:11
III. A public remembrance—the Passover 10
a. The story of blood shed on the door and the salvation of the firstborn
b. We take the Lord’s supper as
i. A time to remember
ii. A time to obey
iii. A time to examine ourselves
iv. A time to look for His coming
c. A recognition of what He did
IV. Miracles cease when no longer needed 11-12
a. Manna was a temporary meeting of their needs
b. Asking God for a miracle to avoid your work is a late
V. The common mistake 13-15
a. I am serving God and need Him to help me do His work
b. Is He on our side or their side
c. The battle is the Lord’s and my part is submit myself to Him and find how what part He wants me to play
