Conviction of the Holy Spirit

 

Acts 2:37

 

 

I.                  The conviction of the Spirit is more than your conscience bothering you

a.    The conscience accuses us or excuses us Romans 2:15

b.    The scribes and Pharisees were convicted by their conscience not to throw the first stone John 8:9

c.     You can sear, toughen, or cauterize your conscience I Timothy 4:2

d.    You can get past feeling your conscience Ephesians 4:19

e.    God can give you up to a reprobate mind Romans 1:28

 

II.              The preaching of the Word of God causes us to see our need of the Saviour

a.    The Word of God cuts deeply showing us even our thoughts and intents Hebrews 4:12

b.    The preaching of the Word of God would convince people of their need of the Saviour I Corinthians 14:24-25

c.     In the book of Acts they hear and it pricks and cuts 2:37, 5:33

d.    The Holy Spirit makes you remember what the Word of God says John 14:26

 

III.           The Holy Spirit reproves the world of sin John 16:7-11

a.    Shows us that we are not believing on Him

b.    That Jesus is God and His Word is true

c.     He shows us our guilt Romans 3:19

d.    He gives power to the spoken word     I Corinthians 2:4-5

 

IV.            The conviction caused them to ask what shall we do? 2:37

a.    See your need of salvation

b.    Repent

c.     Receive the Word
