A Godly Dad

Job 1:1-5

I.                     Basic concern of a Christian Dad Job 1:1

a.      Secondary concerns are children’s education and family finances!

b.      Spiritual life of his wife and children

                                                              i.      Are they saved?

                                                            ii.      Are they growing spiritually?

                                                          iii.      Am I the spiritual leader for my wife and children that I should be?

c.      Is there sin in my life?

                                                              i.      Open sin

                                                            ii.      Sin only in my heart

II.                   His priority

a.      His first thought each day was the spiritual life of his children. Job 1:5

b.      He paid the price of getting up early in order to concern himself with their spiritual life

c.      He didn’t just worry about their spiritual life in crisis days but every day 1:5

d.      Faithfulness or continually 1:5

e.      He gave his children an example to follow 1:1

f.        It cost him but it was worth it –the time and the offering

III.                  A personal relationship with each child

a.      He prayed according to the number of them 1:5

b.      He thought about each one

c.      We should have family devotions with them

d.      Our children should be our first disciples

IV.               The danger

a.      Sin in their life or heart that they haven’t confessed

b.      Are they saved? Are they growing spiritually? Are they practicing separation Are they faithful to God in their personal lives
