I. The Miracle
a. A helpless lame man begs for help 3:2
b. Men of God ready to help 3:4
c. The expectancy of the needy 3:5
d. The result of the power of the name of Jesus Christ 3:6, 8
e. The wondering it caused 3:10-11
II. The Miracle Power
a. Why marvel like we did it? 3:12
b. God’s men recognized that they didn’t do the miracle and they wanted others to know that they didn’t do the miracle
c. It was the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob glorifying His Son Jesus 3:13—this is the real purpose of the miracle
d. It was the name of Jesus that worked the miracle 3:16
III. The focus is to be the person of Jesus
a. He is the Holy One 3:14, Psalm 16:10
b. He is the Just 3:14, Zechariah 9:9
c. He is the Prince of Life 3:15, John 5:26
d. He is the Son of God 3:13
e. He is the Christ 3:18, 20
f. He is the Prophet 3:22-23
i. Luke 24:19
ii. Deuteronomy 18:15-19
IV. When they realize who He is then they should repent
a. They had delivered Jesus up to death 3:13
b. They had denied Jesus even when Pilate was willing to spare His life 3:13
c. They chose a murderer 3:14
d. Peter thinks that maybe they did it in ignorance but if that is the case then now is the time to repent 3:17
e. Jesus was sent to turn everyone away from his iniquities 3:26
V. He came first to suffer but later He will come to reign
a. It was prophesied that He would come and suffer 3:18, Genesis 3:15, Psalm 22, 69, Isaiah 53
b. He will come back 3:20
c. He will reign and be all that the Jews had expected 3:21, Zechariah 12:10, 14:4, Philippians 2:10-11
- Do you see the miracle or the miracle worker?
- Are you the center of the story or is He?
- Is it about you or Him?
- Have you heard the truth, believed and repented of rejecting the Prophet, Priest, and King?
- Do you recognize Him as the Messiah, the Anointed Sent One from God?
- Have you turned from your iniquities?
- Have you already confessed Him as your King?
