No Past at All!

Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. —2 Corinthians 5:17 In our churches we often sing, “Arise, my soul, arise! Shake off thy guilty fears.” But nothing happens and we keep our fears. Why do we claim on one hand that our sins are gone and on the other act just as though they are not gone?

American Idolatry, Part III: Liking Porn and Loving Jesus

In the first post , we covered the fact that who you worship is ultimately the most important thing about you. The second post dealt with the fact that all false worship is ultimately self-worship. Now I’d like to zoom in a little and get down to some of the nitty-gritty details of what self-worship looks like in the life of the Christian. (spoiler: it looks pretty much the same as self-worship in a non-Christian, just without the excuse) The Bible has a lot to say about worship and idolatry, because the purpose of the whole Bible is to reveal and glorify God to us, so that we will worship Him as He deserves. And no, Mr O’Steen, it’s not about you, me, OR your mullet.

Another One Saved!!

This is from my wife’s blog. “Sometimes I think because John 3:16 is a verse we learn so young and we can spout it off at a moment’s notice, we forget it’s significance. Well, tonight God reminded me of the beauty of :”For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth on him, should not perish, but have everlasting life.” After church tonight, I was able to talk to a young girl named Claudia. My job couldn’t have been any easier, she was more than ready to accept Christ! She has been coming to church fairly regulary with her sister Regina (who I was able to lead to the Lord a few months ago) and decided tonight that she was ready to make a decision. Praise the Lord! It is always exhilarating to lead someone to Christ, but with her, it was especially exciting.

Not a Single Christian Church Left in Afghanistan, Says State Department

Can you believe that there is a country in the world that has not one small, struggling church the worships the Lord Jesus Christ. That is what this article reports based on US State department findings. I am alarmed. I am asking God to raise up men and women and send them to Afghanistan. Will you pray with me

Things to consider about our youth and children’s ministry

I will be taking some excerpt from an article found here! I thought the open letter was well written and respectful. I am not qualified to get into the discussion between the men here. I simply thought as I read the article, how does this apply to me and the ministry that God has called me to lead.

this man was really stupid

I sometimes think I might have been in darkness and despair until now had it not been for the goodness of God in sending a snowstorm, one Sunday morning, while I was going to a certain place of worship. When I could go no further, I turned down a side street, and came to a little Primitive Methodist Chapel. In that chapel there may have been a dozen or fifteen people. I had heard of the Primitive Methodists, how they sang so loudly that they made people’s heads ache; but that did not matter to me

The Tebow Platform

In Tim Tebow’s autobiography, “Through My Eyes,”For as long as I can remember, this was instilled in me: to have fun, love Jesus and others, and tell them about Him.” If you have given Tebow a moment of your attention you will see that he is living up to these principles in his life. He is having a blast and pointing people to Jesus on and off the field. You do not have to be a Broncos fan to be a Tebow fan nor would you have to be a follower of Jesus to appreciate Tim Tebow’s work ethic. His contribution as starting quarterback cannot be argued. His dedication to Jesus may not be cared for by some but He is consistent.

Baptists by Spurgeon

THE Christians commonly called Baptists are, according to my belief, the purest part of that sect which, of old, was “everywhere spoken against,” and I am convinced that they have, beyond their brethren, preserved the ordinances of the Lord Jesus as they were delivered unto the saints. I care very little for the “historical church” argument; but if there be anything at all in it, the plea ought not to be filched by the clients of Rome, but should be left to that community which all along has held by “one Lord, one faith, and one baptism.” This body of believers has not been exalted into temporal power, or decorated with worldly rank, but it has dwelt for the most part in dens and caves of the earth,—“destitute, afflicted, tormented,”—and so has proved itself of the house and lineage of the Crucified. The church which most loudly claims the apostolical succession wears upon her brow more of the marks of Antichrist than of Christ; but the afflicted Anabaptists, in their past history, have had such fellowship with their suffering Lord, and have borne so pure a testimony, both to truth and freedom, that they need in nothing to be ashamed. Their very existence under the calumnies and persecutions which they have endured is a standing marvel, while their unflinching fidelity to the Scriptures as their sole rule of faith, and their adherence to the simplicity of gospel ordinances, is a sure index of their Lord’s presence among them. It would not be impossible to show that the first Christians who dwelt in this land were of the same faith and order as the believers now called Baptists

The Baptists arrive in Georgia

Separatist Baptist Daniel Marshall, who was sixty-five years old, introduced Baptist principles into Georgia on January 1, 1771. The scene is in a sylvan grove, and Daniel Marshall is on his knees making the opening prayer. While he beseeches the Throne of Grace, a hand is laid on his shoulder, and he hears a voice say: “You are my prisoner!” Rising, the sedate, earnest-minded man of God, whose sober mien and silvery locks indicate the sixty-five years which have passed since his birth, finds himself confronted by an officer of the law.
