“How often I have felt humiliated by the fulsome laudation expressed of foreign missionaries by friends in the home land, and I have longed for the time when all Christian workers at home and abroad shall stand on a level as disciples of a common Master and equally engaged in His service. A soldier sent to the Philippines deserves no more credit than one on guard in the fort on Governor’s Island.” From Dr. Jessup, missionary to Syria died in 1910. My pastor send me this and I wanted to pass it along. William Carey and his team set forth principles that still guide us today in mission work. Here are excerpts from the “Form of Agreement” drafted by Carey and his colleagues in October 1805. The Redeemer, in planting us in this heathen nation, rather than in any other, has imposed upon us the cultivation of peculiar qualifications. Upon these points we think it right to fix our serious and abiding attention

Part 1 & Part 2 Facebook This is another great way to connect with people and for them to stay up to date with your ministry. On Facebook, you can share updates, send links to your blog/website, and connect with people. Facebook and twitter are great for helping drive traffic to your blog/website. I also use LinkedIn as well for the same reason.

When I started out as a missionary, I began a process of learning and growing that will no doubt continue to the day I die. One area about which I had alot to learn was in the realm of technology. I think that every missionary/pastor should seriously using technology as much as he can. Obviously, we can become obsessed with it, but a great deal of technology is helpful because it allows us to communicate a message instantly, cheaply, and in a language that people are talking. I am by no means an expert in technology, but, in the next series of posts, I wanted to pass on a few ideas and tools that I use that might be of help to others who are in the ministry. WordPress One of the main tools that I used for communicating with supporters and prayer partners is our website/blog

I hope you are praying and thinking about what you can do and what God’s will for your Christmas offering is. We say that we are celebrating Christ’s birthday on Christmas and we are. However you and I both know that except for a cursory mentioning of Him we give Him little attention.

Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. —2 Corinthians 5:17 In our churches we often sing, “Arise, my soul, arise! Shake off thy guilty fears.” But nothing happens and we keep our fears. Why do we claim on one hand that our sins are gone and on the other act just as though they are not gone?

In the first post , we covered the fact that who you worship is ultimately the most important thing about you. The second post dealt with the fact that all false worship is ultimately self-worship. Now I’d like to zoom in a little and get down to some of the nitty-gritty details of what self-worship looks like in the life of the Christian. (spoiler: it looks pretty much the same as self-worship in a non-Christian, just without the excuse) The Bible has a lot to say about worship and idolatry, because the purpose of the whole Bible is to reveal and glorify God to us, so that we will worship Him as He deserves. And no, Mr O’Steen, it’s not about you, me, OR your mullet.

This is from my wife’s blog. “Sometimes I think because John 3:16 is a verse we learn so young and we can spout it off at a moment’s notice, we forget it’s significance. Well, tonight God reminded me of the beauty of :”For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth on him, should not perish, but have everlasting life.” After church tonight, I was able to talk to a young girl named Claudia. My job couldn’t have been any easier, she was more than ready to accept Christ! She has been coming to church fairly regulary with her sister Regina (who I was able to lead to the Lord a few months ago) and decided tonight that she was ready to make a decision. Praise the Lord! It is always exhilarating to lead someone to Christ, but with her, it was especially exciting.
