During this year’s OG Summit I taught a class on Short Term Mission Trips. I wanted Missionary Matt Allen to take a few minutes and speak about his field in person, but unfortunately he wasn’t able to because he was teaching another class at the same time. Instead, he wrote out a testimony that I have placed below that really touched my heart. He also wanted me to let others know that currently, from people visiting him on the field, there are 6 families on deputation who are raising support for Papua New Guinea, and two more that are starting this year

The following is written about Robert Jaffray, missionary to China. His example is a great encouragement about what to do regarding world evangelism during difficult financial times. The evangelization of the South Seas had not been long under way when the great financial crisis of the early 1930s—felt around the world and known through several long, hard years as the Depression—hit the industrialized world.

We had a pretty full day yesterday, but it was great. We were in two great churches in GA: 1. Story Mill Rd Baptist , Hephzibah (AM Service) Pastor Lance and his wife Sarah were so sweet, they let us stay in their home, and we got some great fellowship time with them. I love meeting pastors that love their people, and are pushing to come up with new ways to reach their community and the world! A big thank you to the church and Pastor Lance, I got to teach SS, preach, and even sing a couple specials with Melissa

We had a great Easter Sunday with Mt Zion Baptist Church in Hiawassee GA. What a great group of people to celebrate the resurrection of Christ with: I love being with Christians that are excited about Jesus! One of the neat things about this meeting is that pastor Dye was a missionary to Mexico, and has a real heart and burden for missions. He likes to tell stories, and I always like stories that start with “Let me brag on God for a minute!” He told us about how his church put missions first, giving sacrificially to faith promise, instead of putting the money toward the building program that was definitely needed. They began to lay the foundations of the building with no money to complete it, just praying that God bring in the money in His time to finish it bit by bit

After six action packed years in Chile, our family will be taking an abbreviated 9 month furlough from May-January. Here are a few of our goals for this furlough: 1. Let our children adapt to American culture, language, and life.

I have two sons and lots of friends that are missionaries. I always think about missions, world evangelism, and getting the gospel to the world. Missionaries are always receiving letters from supporting churches but a couple that I have seen lately cause alarm. The comment is made that several of the very faithful givers to missions have passed on to glory. My dad was one of those

A mentor is a missionary’s pacesetter… Not a pacemaker. He’s not a life-support system. But he’s there to help you stay in it for the long haul. Young guys in ministry have chronic speed problems

From the 1st pf February to the 10th of February I have the great opportunity to spend time in India and Thailand! This is absolutely a dream come true for me. God has placed an immoveable burden for the people of India upon my heart. Philip Bassham, my friend and fellow team member, will be seeing Thailand for his very first time.

A mentor allows a missionary to bypass a lot of painful errors… When I was a kid, my friends and I were into video games. And I for one was not very good. It was a pre-internet (i.e. lame) age, so if we wanted to have any kind of help in our gaming endeavors, we only had recourse to traditional print media (the publishing options for 12-year-olds back then were sadly lacking).
