The Gloomy Voice of Unbelief

It is not hard to believe that God can or even that He does. It is hard to believe that He will do it with me, right here, and right now! Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. —Hebrews 11:1 The voice of unbelief says, “Yes, I’m a believer. I believe the Bible

Man-Centered Christianity

1 Chronicles 29:11 Christianity today is man-centered, not God-centered. God is made to wait patiently, even respectfully, on the whims of men. The image of God currently popular is that of a distracted Father, struggling in heartbroken desperation to get people to accept a Savior of whom they feel no need and in whom they have very little interest. To persuade these self-sufficient souls to respond to His generous offers God will do almost anything, even using salesmanship methods and talking down to them in the chummiest way imaginable. This view of things is, of course, a kind of religious romanticism which, while it often uses flattering and sometimes embarrassing terms in praise of God, manages nevertheless to make man the star of the show

Leadership Lessons

You need to read this entire article by clicking right here! I want to take some points from the article that I think will bless pastors and missionaries. I really enjoyed the article so I hope this only whets your appetite to read the article. Never give up no matter how hard the task seems to get. You started out believing this was God’s will for your life so go for it. The old saying was don’t doubt in the night what God gave you in the light! Keep a spirit of praise.

The Blessing Service

Several have asked what the blessing service is, how we do one, and why . I wanted to take a few minutes of your time to try and answer that. The reason we do a blessing service is that we want to honor God’s men and also because “you get what you honor!” You get what you expect, what you are looking for, what you honor! I firmly believe that, so at Vision we look for, honor, and expect missionaries/church planters! The idea of the blessing service comes from the stories in the Old Testament when the man of God would lay hands on the young man and give him his blessing. It often happened just prior to death or when the ministry change was taking place

Regular Bible reading affects people

Source This is wonderful material. I constantly try to challenge all of our Vision people to be people of the Book! Just reading it on a regular basis will change you! What do you think of this article? One activity can bring Christians, whether conservative or liberal, together: reading their Bible, a Baylor University research assistant, has reported. Frequently reading the Bible changed the attitudes of all Christians no matter their political background, Aaron Franzen reported in a news release from Baylor’s Association of Religion Data Archives. “Thus, even as opposition to same-sex marriage and legalized abortion tends to increase with more time spent with the Bible, so does the number of people who say it is important to actively seek social and economic justice,” the ARDA release said

The differences between the orator and the prophet

I challenge all of us that preach the Word of God to consider this devotional by Tozer! The Christian minister, as someone has pointed out, is a descendant not of the Greek orator but of the Hebrew prophet. The differences between the orator and the prophet are many and radical, the chief being that the orator speaks for himself while the prophet speaks for God. The orator originates his message and is responsible to himself for its content. The prophet originates nothing but delivers the message he has received from God who alone is responsible for it, the prophet being responsible to God for its delivery only. The prophet must hear the message clearly and deliver it faithfully, and that is indeed a grave responsibility; but it is to God alone, not to men

Santa Claus is watching you!

The following quote helps us realize how we must be careful to teach the Bible and not morals. We must help children to realize that we will never be good enough in and of ourselves. It is always God that does the work. It is a work of grace

The preacher as the pope!

The following comes from great book that you should each purchase and read. I want to be a Bible preacher. This is a great explanation of a great mistake that happens often in the Bible belt. I grew up with these thoughts. I still deal with them and I think that people in the South East of the USA have a great deal of problems with them.
