Dear Pastors & Praying Friends, From the end of January until St. Patrick’s Day on March 17, we put a great deal of work into renovating our church building. We painted walls, insulated, opened fire exits, and did many small things to make the church look much more welcoming. A big word of “Thanks” goes [...]

Some people are single focused missionaries. They think about and promote their field and only their field. After reading Walking Away at Crunch Time and Death by Bullet or Antifreeze , you might think I’m one of those single focused guys, but that could not be further from the truth. Missions is not an either/or proposition. Missions is a both/and proposition.

Dear Praying Friends, Well, I have decided two things today: 1, truck drivers deserve more respect than they get. And 2… I don’t want to be one! Today finds us in the middle of the longest roadtrip we have attempted thus far on deputation: 5 days of driving from Cincinnati to home, home to Tucson AZ, and Tucson to Los Angeles CA. I’m excited about the meetings ahead of us this month, and for more than just the chance to get out of the car. God has really been good to us in opening doors to present our ministry in wonderful churches! PRAISES: We now have a reliable minivan! I wanted to say a huge thank you to Tim Ellison, owner of “Mr Godwrench” in West Chester OH for setting us up with a much nicer vehicle than we would have been able to afford without his help

Over the past weekend, we passed out about 5000 leaflets to the people who were in the city for Halloween. Derry has one of the largest Halloween festivals in Europe, so it is a great opportunity to reach out. We print up the tract with the text below and went out on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday. In about 3-4 hours, our church was able to get all 5000 passed out. It was a great opportunity to share the gospel, involve many people from our church, and reach out to the lost. Please be in prayer for God to bless and bring forth fruit from this outreach.

This past week, missionary Chris Waye and I, took a trip to England, to visit with several different church and pastors to learn more about the needs and opportunities in the UK. The trip was basically a fact-finding mission. We wanted to learn more about what is going on in the UK regarding the gospel, and how best to do ministry there. Justin Hayes Family We were blessed to meet with six different pastors/missionaries in the country.

One of the most well-known products of Spanish culture is bullfighting, and we are often asked about it. There’s something built into men that makes us crave the adrenaline rush of cheating death: whether it’s a roller-coaster at a theme park, jumping off a cliff with a rope tied to our ankles, or facing off against a 1200 pound bull. Also there’s my personal favorite: telling your pregnant wife that she needs to lay off the Oreos! For the record, she doesn’t need to, it’s just fun to look death in the eye and laugh… and then cry like a little girl when she brings the pain. Don’t judge me, she has the strength of a regular woman AND a baby! Much of the allure of bullfighting is the silly idea that man can “conquer” nature: it’s the same thing that makes us climb Everest and the like. Yeah… you are sitting on top of the mountain that is totally unchanged while you lost 9 digits to frostbite, but somehow YOU won?
