• These Monday Updates sneak up on me so quickly, but I have a good excuse this time, I was on a 10 hour train to the Capitol. We left around 9:30 Sunday night and arrive Monday morning around 7:30. We had four adults, two kids, and lots of luggage in a room with four [...]

Numbers 14:40-45 “And they rose up early in the morning, and gat them up into the top of the mountain, saying, Lo, we be here, and will go up unto the place which the LORD hath promised: for we have sinned. 41 And Moses said, Wherefore now do ye transgress the commandment of the LORD? but it shall not prosper. 42 Go not up, for the LORD is not among you; that ye be not smitten before your enemies. 43 For the Amalekites and the Canaanites are there before you, and ye shall fall by the sword: because ye are turned away from the LORD, therefore the LORD will not be with you. 44 But they presumed to go up unto the hill top: nevertheless the ark of the covenant of the LORD, and Moses, departed not out of the camp. 45 Then the Amalekites came down, and the Canaanites which dwelt in that hill, and smote them, and discomfited them, even unto Hormah.” When God told the Israelites to go up into the Promised Land, they were afraid and did not want to go up. They rebelled against the Lord and refused to go up. When God told them that they would wander in the wilderness for forty years because of their rebellion, then they decided to go up without the Lord’s blessing. Their efforts were resisted, and they failed because the time had passed and God was not with them

Some people are single focused missionaries. They think about and promote their field and only their field. After reading Walking Away at Crunch Time and Death by Bullet or Antifreeze , you might think I’m one of those single focused guys, but that could not be further from the truth. Missions is not an either/or proposition. Missions is a both/and proposition.

Dear Praying Friends, Well, I have decided two things today: 1, truck drivers deserve more respect than they get. And 2… I don’t want to be one! Today finds us in the middle of the longest roadtrip we have attempted thus far on deputation: 5 days of driving from Cincinnati to home, home to Tucson AZ, and Tucson to Los Angeles CA. I’m excited about the meetings ahead of us this month, and for more than just the chance to get out of the car. God has really been good to us in opening doors to present our ministry in wonderful churches! PRAISES: We now have a reliable minivan! I wanted to say a huge thank you to Tim Ellison, owner of “Mr Godwrench” in West Chester OH for setting us up with a much nicer vehicle than we would have been able to afford without his help

A few years back a lady in my home town was convicted of murdering two men. Her weapon of choice was antifreeze. Death by antifreeze is slow and virtually undetectable by the victim. Its sweet taste makes an easy cover to disguise the poison. She slowly added antifreeze to the food of both her victims, until they were dead! A bullet is a completely different story.

I just read this email from a friend of mine, John Allen, who is a missionary in Papua New Guinea. I hope you will read it and cause you to pray for laborers: On the west side of our Kamea people lives another people known as the Tewata or Tainae. Their numbers are much smaller than the Kamea, perhaps numbering only around 1,000. They live in a few villages in a very isolated area, without an airstrip, an aid post, or any development

According to CNN and Trading Economics , Spain now sits at number 3 in the list of the world’s worst unemployment rates, at a staggering 21.3%. Only South Africa and Angola have a worse rate of employment. Thousands take to the streets in protest seemingly every week, as the Spanish economic train-wreck rolls on.

I was waiting in line at the bank today, and a song came over the PA that made me groan. It was a particularly annoying country song that I was WAY more familiar with than I wanted to be. Before going to Portugal for Bible College, we spent a year in NC, and I worked a job where I spent hour after hour in a pickup truck with a guy who loved country music, and my pleas for silence, for conversation, for Swiss yodeling music, ANYTHING other than hours of country music, fell on deaf ears. This particular song set forth the “meaning of life” according to the singer’s perspective, and it is a pretty good reflection of the southern (and probably most of America) mindset. Basically, it boils down to: 1

We are looking for help to get material into the hands of unreached people groups. We are talking about people that do not have access to the Internet or other means of getting material and help. Many have already heard the gospel or have interest in the gospel. They need help
