Monday afternoon, a group of abut 40 missionaries from around the world met in a small lodge in Dahlonega, GA. These men and women have been to the far corners of the Earth preaching the Gospel and are getting these done. This week is a time of reflection and refreshment to young guys like me just getting started in the field of missions.
You can imagine that a guy just getting started might have a lot of questions about deputation, church planting, discipleship, cultural adaptation, language learning and a slew of other things. I can think of no greater group in the world to ask these questions to. Sherry and I have spent each day from early in the morning to nearly midnight each night listening to those who have gone out and seen God move in miraculous ways all around the world.
We are so privileged to have a network of missionaries that we can learn from and get support from so that when we get to the field that God has called us to, we can immediately get started with the missions at hand. Much of missions success is about getting the proper training before we leave. This week has proven to be invaluable in getting part of that necessary training.
