Great Idea
I was recently in a church, and being the nosy person that I am, was asking about their different ministries. One thing they do is have people turn in prayer request sheets on Wednesday night for prayer. This sheet has information like who is giving the request, date, person to pray for, relationship, describe condition or prayer need. This is filled out and turned into the pastor. If the people desire a card to be sent they add the address to the request form. The person is prayed for and also sent a card by a group of people volunteering to do this. They add names and addresses to a running list each week.
One man gave the testimony that he had received cards every week for over three months with what he was going through and his own church had not sent one. (This is not to steal members but to minister!) A couple weeks before I arrived at the church a man had accepted Christ because of the door that was opened through this ministry.
Just an idea to work from but I really liked it.
