Meet The Pastor
Over the next few days, I am going to cover some things that may seem elementary but, if overlooked, will hurt you on deputation.
Your meeting got cancelled for Sunday morning so you “drop in” to a church. As crazy as it sounds, would you please go meet the pastor? Talk to him and learn about the church. Introduce your family and let him know that you are delighted to be with them to worship this Lord’s day. Hand him a prayer card and go meet the other people in the church. Shake hands and mingle.
I know, I know. ”Bro. Tony I am not a politician and I am not doing a song and dance for nobody. Amen!” I have never asked you to do a song and dance nor be a politician. I have never asked you to manipulate or trick people “just to get support”. I would ask you to be a good Christian. Would I not expect a child of God to be loving? Friendly? Respectful? One of the characteristics of a man of God is he is ”…given to hospitality..” Love the churches you are visiting like the church you will pastor one day. Get away from being so defensive. Do not allow feelings of, “How I am treated on deputation”, mar your mind from realizing that many of the things discussed have nothing to do with deputation but has everything to do with being a child of God. Ask God to help you if you have trouble in this area. Galatians 5 list the fruit of the Spirit. May that fruit be evident in our lives.
Go love the pastor and church today. Ask God to help you get over whatever may be inhibiting you. Enjoy your meetings this week, don’t endure them.
Bro. Tony
