Shepherding (part two)
As we continue to look at characteristics of the Shepherd, there may be changes in how you treat people that need to be made. I am bringing thoughts that challenged me and I pray will be a help to you.
4. The Shepherd knows how to lead. (leadeth me in the paths of righteousness) He does not push me in a direction that He is not going. Love rejoices not in iniquity but in the truth. My Shepherd loves me and leads me down paths that are right and just and true. He goes before me and I follow. I must stay in sight of Him or I will lose my way. Do we know how to lead? Do we know anything about leadership? Have we ever followed anyone? Which direction are you going? Where are you going to lead those sheep? Will you run off and leave them? Will you stay in sight? Know where you are going in your life and ministry. Write it down. How are you going to get there? Write it down. Have a plan. May our sheep be able to say that we lead them down paths of righteousness.
5. The Shepherd knows how to build trust. (fear no evil for thou art with me) There may be scary things that happen in our lives but I have no reason to fear. Perfect love casteth out all fear and my Shepherd has perfect love for me. My Shepherd has committed Himself to me. He told me that He will never leave me nor forsake me. Will your sheep know the rest and peace of fearing no evil because you are with them? Will they know that you will never forsake them. I know in my personal life, I have forsaken God but God has never forsaken me. I can trust Him. Can people trust me? Can they trust you? Trust is a rare commodity in this day and age. Will your words be true? Will you keep your promises? Will your sheep look at you with trust? In many places, the people do not trust the missionaries. Will your people be able to trust you?
I dont mean to bore you so I will stop for today. A little more tomorrow.
Love you guys,
Bro. Tony
