God has been so good to us during this week of meetings. The pastor has asked me to stay and preach Sunday as well. How we need the mighty stirrings of God in our assemblies. Oh for an environment of power that brings great conviction upon the souls of man.
Jeremiah 45:5 tells us not to seek great things for ourselves. This was one of the things that stood out to me in my Bible reading today. Do I seek great things for myself? Do I seek great love offerings? Great compliments? Do I seek things for my life that should be directed back to the Lord. Are you raising support quickly for yourself or Him? What is your motivation for preaching, praying or anything else that you do.
I do not believe seeking great things is wrong. I believe the reason and motivation of seeking great things is where we go astray. Seek for God to use you in great and mighty ways, but seek this for His glory and not your own. The meetings you line up, the opportunities to preach, the presentations before the church body, all the things done as a missionary on deputation, keep the motivation pure. It is for his glory. Let us not seek great things for ourself.
