Thank You Letters
I am thankful for men who pass on information that will help us as we deal with deputation. The following was sent to Michael Lovett in Africa. He wrote me so that I could pass it on to others. Thank you Bro. Michael!
I’m not trying to be critical or facetious, but the last few missionaries that we have come by the church did not even correspond before or after being here. My church folks for the most part are young Christians, some have never heard of an Independent Baptist Church, and they just don’t understand the way people do. It’s refreshing to me for someone just to do what they say that they are going to do! I tell my people that I have a pet peeve of folks not being thankful for what God and God’s people do for them. My folks don’t understand this younger missionary generation, in that they never receive a thank you for a love offering or a meal provided by the church and a generous goody basket for the visiting family.
I started pastoring when I was twenty four years old and I will soon turn 57 years old and times sure have changed!
I do not know if these were Macedonia missionaries but we need to be very diligent in our correspondence. Be sure to write confirmation letters, thank you notes, etc. We want to be known as the most gracious, thankful group that is out there. I would recommend getting some thank you post cards like your prayer cards and using them. Whatever direction you choose to take, make sure you send them a thank you card. May God bless you as you serve Him today!
