A Little About My Best Friend
Take time today to let your mate know how special she (he) is. In the midst of me getting on you to spend more time on the phone, filling your schedule, traveling like crazy and preaching like mad men, I also encourage you to take some time with your mate and just love each other. Having a date night (you should give them cards, gifts and I Love you’s more than just Valentine’s day) and expressing your gratitude should be part of our lives. Men, if we lose our mates, we have lost our ministry. Our first ministry is our family.
So to the woman who is up at 4:45a.m. getting ready so she can have time to do her devotions before the children are up, who cooks my favorite hamburgers (like she did last night!), who kisses away boo boo’s, who gets boo boos while trying to fix Camryn’s “heelies”?, who burns up the road traveling, washes clothes, knows where my keys are and has my son crank up my car when it is 20 degrees outside….I love you.
I never have deserved you but am grateful to have you. If I had a thousand lives to live, I would choose you to live each of those lives with. I mentioned some things you do because they show who you are. You are so sensitive to our needs as a family and to me as a husband, you are tireless in your labor, you are grateful for all things, you care about people, and most of all, you love the God that we serve. You read His Word and have given your life to serve Him. You have gone from South Georgia to South America with me. How I love and thank God for you. You are my soul mate. Thanks for saying, “I do”!
Forgive my ramblings. Outside of Jesus Christ, I wanted to tell you a little about my best friend. Her name is Stacey and we will have been married 20 years this November. What a woman!
