Daily Devotions
I have several men that I share my daily devotions with and, likewise, they share with me. We email them to one another on a daily (most days anyway!) basis. This helps us to be accountable and be more conscious of what God is trying to say to us individually.
I highly encourage you to find someone that can be your accountability partner when it comes to your daily devotions. Some simple things that might help.
1. Make it someone besides your wife/husband. They will not be honest with you and if they are you may have other problems on your hands.
2. Find someone that you can be honest with and they can do the same.
3. Think through three questions as you read.
a. What is the scripture about? What is it dealing with?
b. How does the scripture apply to my life?
c. What do I not understand?
4. Write out a short (or long) prayer that prays the scripture back to God.
5. Read through the Bible. Do not skip around. Go from cover to cover.
6. Don’t try to “conquer” the Bible by “reading it through”. Let the Bible conquer you
