The Ministry of Today
Many times we look toward getting to the field and in the midst of being consumed with tomorrow, we forget about today. Notice a few verses dealing with today.
Mark 6:11 - Give us this day our daily bread.
Proverbs 27:1 - Boast not thyself of tomorrow; for thou knowest not what a day may bring forth.
James 4:14 - Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapor, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.
The best you knew how to do, did you do it today?
Tomorrow you will only be more of what you are today. What will you be tomorrow?
At each stage in the life of Joseph, he made the most of where he was doing the very best he could. He was a great leader of servants, then of prisoners, then the world. What if he had given less than his best at each stage of his life? Have you been giving a half hearted effort convincing your self it is o.k. because you are not on the field yet. Is this a time to “coast” before you arrive on the field and really get to work? Put your all in today, and if God wills for tomorrow to come, you will be better prepared to meet it head on.
Do not overlook the opportunities that will be before you today to minister to others. God desires to work in your life so that he can work through your life. May we take more seriously the ministry of today.
